Matthew Brennan was a rising star in the COLT community with wide-ranging contributions in studying the computational complexity of high-dimensional inference problems as well as other related areas. In this session we will highlight a few of his results showing surprising average-case reductions between quite differently structured problems, with the aim of conveying the key technical ingredients and ideas. The final portion of the session will be devoted to reflections from collaborators and mentors.
